PSL Calculator: Work Out Your PSL Score From Measurements
A PSL calculator turns facial measurements into a score on the 0 to 8 PSL scale. Type in ratios such as canthal tilt, eye spacing and the facial thirds, and this free calculator scores them against the same ideal bands as the photo tool, then shows your tier and a breakdown by dimension.

Enter at least three measurements
From two or more dimensions, such as eye spacing, canthal tilt and the thirds. Or press “Try example”.
How to use the PSL calculator
The calculator is for people who already have measurements, or who want to see how each ratio moves the score. It takes about a minute and needs no photo upload.
- 1
Choose how to read the scale
Pick neutral, male or female. This switches the ideal bands for facial width-to-height, canthal tilt, jaw ratio and jaw angle.
- 2
Measure on a straight photo
Use a front-facing, level photo and measure in pixels with any image tool, then divide as the hint under each box says.
- 3
Type in the numbers
Enter at least three measurements from two dimensions. The score updates as you type; leave any box empty if you do not have it.
- 4
Read the result
You get a 0–8 score, a tier and a score for each dimension you covered. Add more measurements to cover all five.
What to measure for each input
Every box is a ratio or an angle, so the unit of your measuring tool does not matter. Measure on a straight, level, front-facing photo and keep the same method each time.
| Input | How to measure | Ideal band |
|---|---|---|
| Left–right offset | How far paired features sit from the midline, as a percent of face width. | 0% is best; 2% scores about 78 |
| Mid ÷ lower third | Nasion to base of nose, divided by base of nose to chin. | 0.78 – 1.00 |
| Face width in eye-widths | Cheekbone-to-cheekbone width divided by the width of one eye. | 4.4 – 5.2 |
| Facial width-to-height | Cheekbone width divided by the height from nasion to the centre of the lips. | 1.78 – 2.2 |
| Eye spacing | Distance between the inner eye corners divided by the width of one eye. | 0.95 – 1.12 |
| Canthal tilt | Angle of the line from inner to outer eye corner. Positive when the outer corner is higher. | +3° to +9° |
| Jaw ÷ cheekbone width | Width at the jaw corners divided by cheekbone width. | 0.74 – 0.92 |
| Jaw angle | Angle at the jaw corner between the cheek side and the chin line. | 114 – 134° |
| Nose ÷ intercanthal width | Width of the nostrils divided by the distance between the inner eye corners. | 0.88 – 1.12 |
| Mouth ÷ nose width | Mouth width divided by nostril width. | 1.35 – 1.65 |
How the PSL calculator works
Each number you type is compared with its ideal band and scored from 0 to 100: 100 at the centre of the band, about 91 at its edge, and falling smoothly outside it. Scores are averaged inside each of the five dimensions, the dimensions are combined with fixed weights (eye area 25%, symmetry 22%, proportions 22%, jaw and chin 17%, midface harmony 14%), and the result is mapped onto the 0 to 8 scale. If you leave a dimension empty, it is left out and the other weights are rescaled.
This is the same method as the photo tool. The full list of bands is in how the PSL rating works.
PSL calculator vs the photo tool
- Photo tool: finds 478 landmarks and measures 16 proportions for you. Faster, and it checks the photo for angle, light and expression. Try the PSL score page.
- Calculator: scores only the values you type. Useful when you have your own measurements, or to see what changing one ratio would do.
Whichever you use, remember the scale is a convention and a measurement from one photo is an estimate. For the meaning of each number, read PSL score meaning.
