How to check your PSL score
Checking your PSL score takes four steps and under a minute. The free score needs no account, and the photo never leaves your browser.
- 1
Pick how to read the scale
Choose neutral, male or female. This only changes the ideal measurement bands and the tier names.
- 2
Add a front-facing photo
Upload one, paste one, or use the camera guide. Look straight at the lens, relaxed, with soft light on your face.
- 3
Wait for the scan
Your browser maps 478 landmarks and measures symmetry, thirds, the eye area, jaw and midface. This takes a few seconds.
- 4
Read your PSL score
You get a number from 0 to 8, your tier, five dimension scores and every measurement against its ideal band.
What goes into your PSL score
The score is built from 16 measurements, each compared with a published ideal band and scored from 0 to 100, then weighted into five dimensions. The weights are public, so you can see which part of your face moves the number most.
| Dimension | Weight | Example measurements |
|---|---|---|
| Eye area | 25% | Canthal tilt, eye spacing, eye openness |
| Symmetry | 22% | Left–right balance, how level the features sit |
| Proportions | 22% | Facial thirds, face width in eye-widths |
| Jaw & chin | 17% | Jaw-to-cheekbone width, jaw angle |
| Midface harmony | 14% | Nose width, mouth-to-nose ratio, lip balance |
Every number is shown on your result. The full list of bands is on how the PSL rating works.
PSL score vs PSL rating vs PSL tier
These three terms get mixed up. Here is how this site uses them.
| Term | What it means | Example |
|---|---|---|
| PSL score | The single number from 0 to 8 | 5.25 |
| PSL rating | The whole result: score, tier, dimensions and measurements | Everything on your result page |
| PSL tier | The band the score falls in, with a neutral and a community name | Above average (HTN / HTB) |
What is a good PSL score?
Four is the middle of the scale and describes a typical face, so a score between 3.5 and 5 is completely normal. Five to six is clearly above average, and the top tiers are rare. The chart shows where each range sits; the longer guide is what a PSL score means.
Why your PSL score changes between photos
The same face gets different scores in different photos, and the tool shows you how much. On one AI-generated portrait, the geometry score was 6.44 for a straight-on photo, 5.70 with a broad smile, 5.04 with the head turned about 22 degrees, and 4.41 when shot too close with a wide-angle lens. Nothing about the face changed; only the photo did.
- Hold the camera at eye level, about an arm and a half away.
- Face the lens with a relaxed, neutral expression and a closed mouth.
- Use soft light from the front, not from above or behind you.
- Take two or three photos and trust the overlap, not any single number.

Real output of the on-device geometry rating on three AI-generated portraits. Image generators tend to produce unusually symmetric, evenly proportioned faces, so these score high. Photos of real people usually land lower and closer to the middle of the scale.
