PSL Rating: Free Face Rating on the 0–8 PSL Scale

A PSL rating scores your face from 0 to 8 on the community-made PSL scale, where about 4 is the middle of the population. This free tool maps 478 landmarks on your device, measures 16 proportions, and returns a score and tier in seconds, without uploading your photo.

The process

How to get your PSL rating

Getting your PSL rating takes under a minute and four steps. You do not need an account for the free rating, and the whole measurement happens in your browser tab.

  1. 1

Pick how to read the scale

Choose male, female or not specified. This only changes the ideal measurement bands and the tier names; the geometry is identical.

  2. 2

    Add a front-facing photo

Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP, paste one, or use the camera guide. Look straight at the lens with a relaxed face, soft even light and your hair off your forehead.

  3. 3

    Watch the scan

Your browser finds your face, maps 478 landmarks and measures symmetry, facial thirds, the eye area, jaw and midface. Nothing leaves your device in this step.

  4. 4

    Read your PSL rating

You get a 0–8 score, your tier, five dimension scores and every measurement against its ideal band. Run the AI rating for a written breakdown and tips.

Real output of the on-device geometry rating on three AI-generated portraits. Image generators tend to produce unusually symmetric, evenly proportioned faces, so these score high. Photos of real people usually land lower and closer to the middle of the scale.

How to take a photo for an accurate PSL rating

Most of the difference between two ratings of the same person is the photo, not the face. These six cases cover almost everything that moves the number.

A turn of this size changes symmetry and thirds.

Photo check: blocked. Your head is turned about 22°.

  • AI-generated portrait: head tilted~6.51+0.07

    Head tilted

Tilt is corrected, but keep your head level.

  • AI-generated portrait: smiling5.70-0.74

    Smiling

Changes lips, jaw and the eye corners.

Photo check: A strong expression changes your proportions.

  • AI-generated portrait: too close4.41-2.03

    Too close

A close lens stretches the nose and forehead.

Photo check: The camera is angled down at you.

Under the hood

What your PSL rating measures

The rating is built from 16 measurements in five dimensions. Each is compared with a published ideal band, scored from 0 to 100, weighted into one index and mapped onto the 0–8 scale. Every number is shown on your result.

  • 25%
    of the score

    Eye area

Canthal tilt, eye spacing, eye openness and interpupillary distance.

  • 22%
    of the score

    Symmetry

Left–right balance of the eyes, cheeks, jaw and mouth, and how level the features sit.

  • 22%
    of the score

    Proportions

Facial thirds, face width in eye-widths, and facial width-to-height ratio.

  • 17%
    of the score

    Jaw & chin

Jaw-to-cheekbone width, jaw angle and chin width.

  • 14%
    of the score

    Midface harmony

Nose width, mouth-to-nose ratio and lip balance.

The full list of bands and the formula are published on how the PSL rating works, so you can check the maths instead of trusting a black box.

The scale

The PSL rating chart: tiers from 0 to 8

Your PSL rating lands in one of seven tiers. We show a neutral name first and the community name second, because the slang names mean different things in different places. Percentiles are community estimates, not measured data.

What happens to your photo

Plainly, for each way you can use the tool.

01

Free rating

The face model and its runtime are served from this site and run on your device. The photo is not sent anywhere.

02

AI rating

A resized copy is sent once over an encrypted connection, scored, and not kept by the provider. We keep a small copy in your private report only if you allow it, and you can delete it. It is only routed to AI providers that commit not to retain it or train on it.

03

After sign-up or checkout

The photo is held in your browser tab only, so your result is waiting when you come back, and it disappears when you close the tab.

Be honest

How accurate is a PSL rating?

Honestly: it is an estimate. The PSL scale is a community convention, not science, and no photo-based tool can measure your real face perfectly. Phone cameras held close stretch the nose and widen the forehead, a slight head turn changes symmetry, and a smile changes the lips, jaw and the corners of the eyes. That is why this tool checks your photo first and warns you about angle, light, blur and expression.

For the most consistent PSL rating, take the photo at eye level from about an arm and a half away, face the lens, keep a neutral mouth, and use soft light from the front. Photos taken this way agree with each other far more closely than casual selfies. Use the individual measurements, not the headline number, to understand what drives your result, and remember that a rating says nothing about your worth.
